Ray R. Valdez, MD

Dr. Valdez specializes in disorders of the foot and ankle at OST. Prior to returning to Houston, his hometown, Dr. Valdez completed his Fellowship in Surgery of the Foot and Ankle under the direction of John S. Gould, M.D. at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1983, he earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). His career in orthopedic surgery was inspired by an interest in musculoskeletal disorders in children. After completing an internship in Pediatrics, Dr. Valdez completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas.

As an accomplished specialist in the area of foot and ankle surgery, he has introduced advanced techniques such as ankle arthroscopy, total ankle replacement and endoscopic plantar fascia release to area hospitals. However, he continues his interest in general orthopedics and sports injuries.

Dr. Valdez serves as a volunteer faculty for the Memorial Hermann Family Practice Residency. As a former partner at Southwest Bone & Joint Clinic he recently accepted a plaque commemorating 30 years of volunteer service to the Alief Independent School District. Dr Valdez has been a team physician for 18 of those years.

He has completed 20 marathons, 17 of which were run in Houston. His wife Paula Hale is a native of Charenton, Louisianna. The have three daughters, Parker, Peyton and Pilar.
